Young Woman with Traditional Head Scarf, 2015, Photograph
Farming country in Myanmar. Head scaves are distinctive features of the various tribes. Her cheeks are covered with Thanakha, a distinctive feature of the culture in Myanmar--women as well as men use it. It is a paste made from fragrant ground bark mostly worn on the cheeks and sometimes the arms. It is like a cosmetic and sun-protector. So you will see it on all of the people I photographed.
