Each hive has one Queen Bee and she usually lives 4 years. A second Queen is often raised as the older Queen becomes less productive and this can either create a fight or a conversation. This painting is about that moment, fight or talk? Either way, one leaves with half the children to find a new home, which is called a swarm.
